  3. This is one of my favorite Kinks albums. I finally got a very good copy on Vinyl. In my humble opinion there isn't a weak track on this LP. "Catch Me Now I'm Falling" and "(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman" seemed to get most of the airplay back in My favorites were the title track "Low Budget" and "A Gallon Of Gas."/5().
  4. The Kinks rarely sounded of their time but their album Low Budget is very much of it's era with hints of punk, new wave, disco(!) and stadium rock. After the lacklustre Misfits, it's a definite return to form and at least tied with Sleepwalker as their best album of the Arista era/5().
  5. The Kinks social commentary regarding the plight of America, as the turbulent '70s was drawing to a close, fueled the group's Low Budget album. The recording boasts several noteworthy cuts which includes "A Gallon of Gas", "Misery", "Catch Me Now I'm Falling", " (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman", "Attitude", and the strong title track.
  6. Low Budget doesn't have a narrative like Preservation or Soap Opera, but Ray Davies cleverly designed the album as a sly satire of the recession and oil crisis that gripped America in the late '70s -- thereby satisfying his need to be a wry social commentator while giving American audiences a hook to identify with. It was a clever move that worked; not only did Low Budget become their highest.
  7. " A Gallon of Gas " is the ninth track from The Kinks ' album, Low Budget. It was written by Ray Davies.
  8. Low Budget is the eighteenth studio album by the English rock group the Kinks, released in Following the minor success of their album Misfits, the band recorded the majority of the album in New York rather than the more nostalgic themes of many Kinks albums prior to Low Budget, the album contains many songs that appeal to current events of the time.
